SIP Benefits

Why is the SIP panelized home better?

In short: You will have a better built home - in less time.

Climate Controlled Production

  • Greensmart manufactures & assembles all structures in an environmentally controlled factory setting. This has many advantages in maintaining building quality & efficiency.
  • Uninstalled materials are protected from dirt, moisture and freezing, as well as vandalism and pest intrusion.
  • Ambient conditions allow for proper application of sealants and adhesives, resulting in less nail pops, ceiling cracks or corner cracks.
  • A safer and more comfortable working environment for employees results in higher quality workmanship and better attention to detail.
  • Increased ability to oversee assembly and inspection practices, distribution and delivery processes results in the production of higher quality modular homes and buildings.

Cost Savings

  • Less labour required to put the structure up
  • Shorter construction time frame
  • Guaranteed price up front; there are no costly overruns
  • Less cleanup cost at the job-site
  • Less material waste
  • Less job-site theft; its hard to steal a wall panel
  • Excellent Quality

SIP roof system (open vault roof) is more esthetically pleasing

  • State of the art computerized equipment ensures precision-built components
  • Even the most complex roof systems can be built
  • Better built looks better in the long run, and holds its value better

Less building stress

  • The major work is completed before the package arrives at your job site
  • Fewer contractors to deal with
  • Faster move-in date
  • Easier time attaining bank draws
  • Less time spent shopping around
  • Fewer costly delays caused by weather, sub-trades, etc.
  • A cleaner job site is a safer job site

SIPs is a better Building System to Eliminate Mold

Mold growth in residences and commercial structures is a major problem. The incidences and litigations of mold and mold insurance claims arising out of construction causes have greatly increased. Mold spores are ever present and carried throughout the air. It is becoming increasingly important in today’s construction methods to build structures that prevent air filtration.

Porous fiberglass insulation and cellulose insulation will hold moisture like a sponge, assuring mold will grow in structures which allow air to infiltrate the walls or roof structures.

Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) avoid these problems a number of ways:
  • Since SIPs have no cavities, there is nowhere for moisture or mold to form.
  • Expanded Polystyrene is not porous and will not absorb water.
  • SIPs cover large areas in uninterrupted sheets and the joints are sealed with an adhesive/sealant.
  • SIPs provide a tight, exact fit for windows and doors.
  • SIPs are fit tightly and prevent air infiltration.
  • SIP connecting splines are designed to be sealed.
